Bindercon NYC FAQ
Does BinderCon have a code of conduct?
Yes. Our code of conduct can be found here.
I’m coming in from out of town, any advice on accommodations?
As the conference approaches, we will provide information on discounted and nearby hotel rooms.
Where is the conference?
I bought a ticket but I can’t go. Can I get my money back?
Tickets to BinderCon are non-refundable. We can transfer your ticket to another name if you notify us two weeks prior to the conference, or we can send you a receipt for your tax-deductible donation to the organization, and the ticket will go to a scholarship recipient.
Can I buy a scholarship ticket and gift it to a specific person?
No, scholarship applicants are selected at the discretion of the organizing committee. You will be able to support a scholar in our store.
Can men attend?
Ticket sales are open to the public, i.e. we cannot regulate who will buy a ticket to attend the conference, and all ticketholders will be admitted. However, all speakers, panelists, scholars and volunteers, will be women, trans, and gender non-conforming people. We ask our male allies to acknowledge and respect the fact that this is a conference for, on, and by women and gender non-conforming writers.
Why are tickets so expensive?
We recognize that the ticket cost may be prohibitive for some, but the fees for renting space and equipment, and hiring professionals to handle our AV, add up, and it would be impossible to put this conference together on a $0 budget. Our scholarship deadline has passed, but we will be putting out a call for volunteers in September.
Can you accommodate an unlimited number of attendees?
No. We are anticipating between 500 and 600 women attending, and participating in, the conference. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Why have a two-day conference instead of just one day?
We already have more programming than we can fit into a two-day schedule; there has been such interest and such enthusiasm from the writerly community that this had to be a two-day conference.
Can I buy a ticket for one day?
No. Unfortunately tickets are only available for the entire conference.
