(Marisol Bello, Melissa Chadburn, Dawn Dorland, Stephanie Land, Krissy Clark)
Writers and journalists discuss how to negotiate pay and reconcile feelings of being a class traitor when tourists in their own land. As women writers and journalists, we’re often engaging subjects who speak to the economic violence we ourselves have experienced related to class, poverty, and the gender-income gap; our subjects become instruments for that larger story. Panelists will talk about the distinction between work and advocacy and share ways that they ensure their own well being, emotionally and fiscally, in the process of writing advocacy-driven journalism and art.
