Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond is the author of Powder Necklace (Washington Square Press), which Publishers Weekly called “a winning debut”. Named among 39 of the most promising African writers under 39, her short fiction was included in the anthology Africa39: New Writing from Africa South of the Sahara (Bloomsbury). She was shortlisted for a 2014 Miles Morland Writing Scholarship and in April 2015, Brew-Hammond was the opening speaker at TEDxAccra. She has contributed fiction to African Writing, Los Angeles Review of Books, Sunday Salon, and the short story collection Woman’s Work; and her essays have appeared on EBONY.com and TheGrio.com. Brew-Hammond has also contributed commentary on MSNBC, NY1, Sahara TV and ARISE TV.
